Why do northern public schools continue to do injustice to the men who died in the Civil War?
Apparently they may subscribe to the view that nothing good comes from the South as clearly our president is adamantly anti south, given his lack of real action on illegal immigration at southern borders. There will be those who conveniently ignore the real reasons for the US Civil War (a term not used during the actual era but created much later) and it was known by several other names - including the War of Northern Aggression. The South "rose" - and justifiably so, because of Lincoln's election and most importantly the bedrock of our Constitution, States Rights. The federal government was interfering in commerce in the Deep South - most notably the Cotton States and trying to impinge on rights held by the states. The North needed revenue and the South had plenty of it. Those of us who read and understand the truth of history know that slavery was not the reason for the Civil War but was a convenient and divisive reason to destroy the South, with the North pillaging and destroying as they took away freedom and livelihood from Americans in the South for no other reason than they could. It is interesting that many in the North held slaves, much isn't discussed about that bit of hypocrisy.
