Christians: Since the tyranny of the God of the Old Testament...?

God is above all else, a God of love grace and mercy. Israel was immensely disobedient. They worshipped idols at one point, one second they loved God the next they didn't. They would forget how God provided. When God provided food they were unsatisfied. They were ungrateful and deserved the punishmentes they got...but if God was so cruel, I don't think he would send his perfect innocent son to die for a population of sick ugly evil sinners...
